Mastodon Fair to be held at Jefferson College

HILLSBORO, MO (KTVI) – This year’s Mastodon  Fair will be held at the Jefferson College Field House located at 1000 Viking Drive in Hillsboro, Missouri on Saturday, March 22, 2014 from 9 am to 12 noon for families and children grades K through 12.

The fair will feature hand on arts and science activities that parent and children will both enjoy, while helping those in need of clean water.

Monsanto fund awards $25,000 to 10 arts and education programs

ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – The Monsanto Fund has awarded $25,000 to Arts and Education Council, to fund 10 rural communities’ arts and educations programs. The program was started seven years ago to broaden arts education the 16 bi-state counties surround St. Louis.

The funding will be used to bring artists and entertainers into the classrooms and performance venues in rural counties boosting the availability of the arts to people and families in the surround counties.

Lyceum Theatre to hold auditions in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS (KTVI)  - The Lyceum Theatre in Arrow Rock, Missouri (west of Columbia, MO.) is slated to hold auditions for actors in St. Louis February 22nd-24th at the Loretto-Hilton Center at 130 Edgar road in Webster Groves. Auditions will held in conjunction with The MidWest Theatre.

Lyceum Theatres is looking for talent to perform in several shows:

In The King and I

  • Local singer/dancers ages 4-14 to play the King's royal children.  
  • Actor age 12-18 with a strong singing voice to play Prince Chulalongkorn
  • Actor age 11-15 to play Louis Leonowens


In A Christmas Carol
Children ages 6 and up to play Tiny Tim, Peter Cratchit, Martha Cratchit, Ignorance and Want as well as a variety of other young characters.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO (KTVI) – Meramec Community College has released its Black History Month calendar of events for the month February.

Encore performance of “A Merry Christmaween Burlesque” scheduled

FENTON, MO. (KTVI) - Backlot Boudoir Productions will be producing an encore performance of their recent “A Merry Christmaween Burlesque” show.  The first show was a sold out crowd with over 300 people in attendance and due to the overwhelming response to the show it will be performed one more time.  The show is a mixture of burlesque, vaudeville, cirque, comedy and more all inspired by classic and cult movies, in this particular case Christmas and Halloween movies.  This performance will have some added surprises and in addition to donating 100% of the net proceeds to “Saint Louis Responder Rescue” we will also be giving away tons of freebies to anyone who brings a new unwrapped toy for “Toys for Tots.”

The show starts at 9pm, but we will have awesome stuff going on before and after the show including hoopers, aerialists, magicians and more. Doors will open at 7pm.

Big Muddy Dance Company to perform at the Casa Loma

Big Muddy Dance Company to perform at the Casa Loma

ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – The Big Muddy Dance Company is set present two company premieres and one world premiere at the Casa Loma  Ballroom in south St,. Louis on November 1st.

The repertory dance company will be under the direction of former Artistic Director of the Hubbard Street Dance Chicago dancer Paula David.  

The performance will be held on Friday, November 1st at 8 pm.  Following the performance, live music provided by The Ambassadors of Swing to continue the nights entertainment.

Fox Theatre to host finals of St. Louis Teen Competition

ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – For the 4th year in a row, the Fabulous Fox Theatre will host the finals of the St. Louis Teen Competition.

More than 180 high schools and performing arts organization were given instructions for this year’s competition, that will start in February 2014. Entries must be completed by November 22, 2013.

To participate in  the competition, contestants must be enrolled in 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade in the 2013-2014 school year and attend a high school within 50 miles of the Gateway Arch.

Contestants can consist of groups up to six, with performing arts categories including singers, dancers, actors, musicians, comedians, ventriloquists, and circus skill artists. Contestants may perform with original or published material.
